As hunter-gatherers, women would go on long walks in groups, looking for berries, herbs, medicines, rope and weaving material, sharp rocks to turn into axes, water sources etc etc. Men would go on hunting trips. It might take days to track and chase down a herd of reindeer or mammoths or bison or auroch, or whatever.
Women have an instinctive drive to go on long walks around their neighbourhood, and discover new places and things. When men go out for a walk, its short and to the point. Same with shopping, men know what they need and go out and buy it, and then they come back. Women browse, its in their DNA to go wandering and browsing. Shopping satisfies the evolutionary urge of berrypicking.
Men do not necessarily feel the need to get out of the house everyday. They leave when they need to. The activity that fulfils the evolutionary urge of a hunting trip is sport. Men will join their group, and physically compete. This also fulfills the urge of raiding and tribal warfare. When they finish the game, they enjoy the fruits of the hunt by having a meal and drinking beer.
With Chimpanzees, the hunters take the choice cuts of meat. It was likely the same with humans. In fact if they had a large kill, they would have had a bbq right then and there, and taken the rest back to the tribe later.
Because of this, men have evolved to consume more meat than women, who are more adapted to a carbohydrate diet. Men have proportionally larger incisor teeth and stronger stomach acid, while women have proportionally longer colons (to ferment fiber) and produce more amylase to digest carbs. Men also suffer more from insulin resistance and diabetes than women.
If they have more muscles mass then they gotta eat more. But if they eat more carbs, it wont help.
It is said more muscle mass helps with insulin regulation. I’d imagine that men who eat less meat and more carbs may find themselves in the diabetic category.
